Pakistani Edible Oil Imports Up in First Haft of Business Year

Pakistan import of edible oil, including soyabean and palm oil, increased significantly in the first half of the current marketing year, according to the country’s Bureau of Statistics.  During the period July-December 2017, soyabean imports into Pakistan totalled approximately 114,234 MT valued at US$102.163 million, marking a 76.16% increase from the 38,766 MT and US$57.993 million in the same period year-on-year, UrduPoint reported on 29 January.  Palm oil imports on the other hand grew 23.01% to 1.418 million MT valued at US$1.037bn from 1.212 million MT with a value of US$843.3M year-on-year.
