Philippine Export of Coconut Products Down in January

Official figures from the Philippine Statistics Authority show the Philippines exported in January 147,299 MT of coconut products expressed in copra terms valued at USD189.631 million. Volume dropped sharply by 38.0% from 237,703 MT in the same month last year and revenue likewise declined 22.6% from USD244.886 million.
Substantial reduction in coconut oil shipment accounted for the drop in aggregate volume.  Shipment during the month at 83,573 MT contracted 41.2% from same month last year at 142,042 MT.  Export of copra meal at 39,404 MT skyrocketed 556.7% from 6,000 MT; desiccated coconut at 8,307 MT spiked 36.0% from 6,107 MT; while oleochemicals at 1,801 MT as copra slumped 35.7% from 2,799 MT. There was no reported shipment of copra during the month as last year.
Other products performed as follows, in MT: coco shell charcoal 4,359 (+40.0% from 3,113 year-ago), activated carbon 6,560 (+23.3% from 5,322), virgin coconut oil 1,776 (+85.8% from 956), coconut water 6.228 million liters (+26.8% from 4.913 million), fresh coconuts 169,465 nuts (+536.3% from 26,635 nuts), Others 8,096 (-7.8% from 8,786).
