Sri Lanka Virgin Coconut Oil Export Down in January-April

Figures from Sri Lanka’s Coconut Development Authority show the country’s export of virgin coconut oil was down by 19.4% to 3,660 MT in January-April this year from 4,539 MT in a similar period year-ago.  Shipment value at USD19.998 million slid by 8.0% from previous year at USD21.754 million. Average traded price at USD5,464.02/MT FOB was up by 14.0% from prior year at USD4,792.78/MT.  For the month of April alone, total export was 855 MT, reducing by 12.7% prior year figure at 866 MT.  Revenue at USD4.671 million rose by 6.7% from last year at USD4.378 million.  

During the four-month period, export markets totaled to 56 countries. Top buyer was the United States at 805 MT (22.0%), trailed by Germany at 720 MT (19.7%),  Australia 578 MT (15.8%). The next six importers held volume ranging 104-578 MT and collectively accounted for 33.1%, namely Australia 578 MT, United Kingdom 171 MT, France 141 MT, Austria 113 MT, Netherlands 107 MT, and Chile 104 MT.  The remaining 48 countries which aggregately accounted for 28.0% took in volume ranging 1-96 MT.
