Philippine Export of Coconut Products Down in February

Official figures from the Philippine Statistics Authority revealed Philippine export of coconut products in February totaled 67,166 MT in copra terms, halving same month last year total at 134,310 MT. Gross export receipts likewise dropped shaprly by 46.8% to USD100.423 million from USD188.696 million. All major exports but copra meal showed double digit declines in year-on-year volume and revenue.
Export of coconut oil at 35,744 MT reduced by more than half year-ago total at 72,422 MT ( 50.7%), desiccated coconut at 6,251 MT plunged 27.9% from 8,675 MT, oleochemicals at 766 MT as copra plummeted 87.0% from 5,911 MT; while copra meal at 28,348 MT climbed 20.9% from 23,457 MT. There was no reported export of copra as the previous year.
Other products performed as follows, in MT: coco shell charcoal 4,556 (+67.1% from 2,727 year-ago), activated carbon 4,702 (-15.9% from 5,594), virgin coconut oil 1,271 (-23.2% from 1,655), coconut water 6.127 million liters (-7.8% from 6.647 million), fresh coconuts 49,000 nuts (-51.2% from 100,387), Others 6,592 (-17.0% from 7,940).
January-February export accumulated to 214,466 MT, trimming radically by 42.3% same time year-ago total at 372,013 MT. Breakdown is as follows, in MT: coconut oil 119,317 (214,483), copra meal 67,752 (29,457), desiccated coconut 14,557 (14,782), oleochemicals as copra 2,567 (8,709); coco shell charcoal 8,915 (5,840), activated carbon 11,262 (10,915), virgin coconut oil 3,047 (2,611), coconut water 12.354 million liters (11.559 million), fresh coconuts 218,465 nuts (127,022), others 14,688 (16,726).
