Wisconsin to Construct Soybean Crushing Facility
Thursday, July 5, 2018The Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board (WSMB), in collaboration with the City of Waupun, is planning to construct a US$150 million soyabean crushing facility, the first such plant in the US state. The Wisconsin Soybean Crushing Plant (WSBLP) LLC would be located in the Waupun Industrial Park and have a daily processing capacity of 100,000 bushels, World Grain said last month.
The plant would purchase 33 million bushels/year of soyabean from farmers in Wisconsin, the 12th largest US soyabean producer, said WSMB. According to WSMB, there were 538,000 ha of soyabeans planted within a 100-mile radius of Waupun in 2017 with an estimated production of 62.5 million bushels.
