Indonesia’s PT Mayora Buys Desiccated Coconut from the Philippines

Thursday, May 2, 2019

PT Mayora of Indonesia has started the importation of desiccated coconut from Philippines in fulfillment of a recently signed memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the two parties, a Philippine daily newspaper Malaya Business Insight reported last month.  Mayora said in a statement it initially imported 52 metric tons of desiccated coconut through PT Lucky Intercoco.  The shipment was expected to reach the Mayora factory in Indonesia by May 1.

Last April 1, Mayora and Philippine-based Franklin Baker Co. signed an MOU for the annual purchase of 1,000 metric tons of desiccated coconut.  Franklin Baker will ensure the availability and sustainability of coconut supply for Mayora.  Franklin Baker, a privately-held Philippine owned company, is one of the largest global suppliers of coconut products, shipped to over 50 countries worldwide.

A leading and preferred supplier of coconut products to many major food and beverage manufacturers, Franklin Baker produces a full range of products from coconut that includes desiccated coconut, specialty coconut, coconut water, coconut flour and virgin coconut oil.
