Philippine Export of Coconut Products Up Sharply in November 2018

Official data from the Philippine Statistics Authority show Philippine export of coconut products in November spiked 61.4% to 221,071 MT in copra terms from 136,958 MT in a similar month year-earlier. Gross export receipts, however, grew only modestly by 8.6% to USD181.336 million from USD166.980 million on low prices.
Export of coconut oil rocketed 71.2% to 126,627 MT from 73,983 MT; copra meal climbed 46.6% to 53,963 MT from 36,800 MT; desiccated coconut leaped 45.2% to 11,239 MT from 7,743 MT; while oleochemicals dived 64.2% to 2,700 MT as copra from 7,530 MT.  There was no export of copra as opposed to 24 MT shipped out year-ago.
Other products performed as follows, in MT: coco shell charcoal 6,890 (+140.3% from 2,867 year-ago), activated carbon 5,968 (+22.6% from 4,869), virgin coconut oil 2,344 (+15.9% from 2,023), coco water 3.665 million liters (-3.5% from 3.797 million), fresh coconuts 124,455 nuts (-38.6% from 202,667), Others 10,247 (+28.0% from 8,006).
Export in January-November 2018 accumulated to 1,589,156 MT in copra terms, slightly higher by 1.0% from 1,573,105 MT at the same time a year ago.  Corresponding revenue, however, dropped 17.6% at USD1.742 billion from USD2.113 billion. 
Breakdown of export by volume is as follows, in MT: copra 92 (111 last year), coconut oil 856,866 (847,174), copra meal 377,952 (223,848), desiccated coconut 116,679 (108,561), oleochemicals as copra 48,566 (60,430); coco shell charcoal 71,873 (30,194), activated carbon 68,100 (65,253), virgin coconut oil 23,469 (25,613), coco water 71.127 million liters (79.822 million), fresh coconuts 1.324 million nuts (1.385 million), Others 107,500 (128,204).
