Indonesian President Jokowi Encourages Production of Palm Oil-Based Avtur

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has encouraged Indonesia to produce palm oil-based aviation fuel so that the country will no longer rely on imported avtur, reports the Antara news last week.  Jokowi told a cabinet meeting recently that he had asked stakeholders to speed up the mandatory proportion of diesel blended with crude palm oil (CPO) from 20% (B20) to 30% (B30) by January 2020, and 50% (B50) by the end of 2020, hence pushing up the domestic use of palm oil.  The B20 mandatory proportion has saved as much as US$1.66 billion of the state budget or some Rp23.57 trillion.  The program has reduced solar import by 45% in 2019.
