MPOB to Introduce Seven New Technologies to Industry Players
Thursday, July 9, 2020The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) during its Transfer of Technology virtual seminar (Webinar TOT 2020) on July 7 said MPOB will introduce seven new technologies to industry players. To date MPOB has developed 667 technologies, of which 30 per cent have been commercialized with a market value of RM3.5 billion.
Director-general, Dr Ahmad Parveez Ghulam Kadir said the new commercialized technologies would cater for both the upstream and downstream sectors of the industry. “We will introduce a number of new technologies that could be used by the industry or anyone interested in increasing their income,” he said during an interview on Radio Television Malaysia’s ‘Biz Malaysia’ program.
Ahmad Parveez said MPOB would continue to come up with new technologies that could spur the palm oil industry and the country’s economic growth. The agency has also developed technologies for production of margarine, cosmetics and palm milk, enabling industry players to get higher value from palm oil. He added that MPOB currently has more than 80 scientists and is actively involved in research collaborations locally and abroad to share its expertise in the industry.
