Avril and DSM Joint Venture to Produce Canola Proteins
Thursday, August 20, 2020French agro-industrial group Avril and Dutch science-based company Royal DSM are launching a joint venture to produce canola proteins, World Grain reported last month. Avril and DSM said construction would begin on a manufacturing facility in Dieppe, France, which is owned by Saipol, a subsidiary of the Avril Group. The new site would also include a biomethane production unit which would contribute to supplying the local public energy network.
The companies said the joint venture company, Olatein, would combine Avril’s expertise in oilseed and protein crop production and DSM’s patented process and technology for extracting high-quality protein from canola meal. Avril would supply Olatein with non-genetically modified canola meal from the new onsite crushing unit while DSM would market and sell the new company’s product CanolaPRO.
