Sri Lanka Coco Kernel Products Export Up in February

Data from Sri Lanka Coconut Development Authority show the country’s coconut kernel products export in February leaped 25% to Rs5,865.99 million (USD30.25 million from Rs4,691.08 million (USD25.83 million) a year earlier.  The five leading exports turned in Rs5,037.35 million, a sharp increase by 33% from prior year at Rs3,788.39 million.  The top export was coconut milk, followed by desiccated coconut, virgin coconut oil, coconut milk powder and coconut cream.  All of above products registered revenue growth at double digit rates save for desiccated coconut. 
In terms of volume traded, desiccated coconut and coconut milk powder reduced shipment during the month.  Coconut milk export at 4,071 MT jumped 23% from 3,319 MT last year, desiccated coconut fell 18% at 2,298 MT from 2,814 MT, virgin coconut oil hiked 17% at 917 MT from 786 MT, coconut milk powder contracted 10% at 636 MT from 707 MT, and coconut cream climbed 22% at 1,143 MT from 934 MT.
Respective cumulative figures for the two-month export in MT are as follows:  coconut milk 8,110 (6,721 last year), desiccated coconut 3,813 (5,323), virgin coconut oil 1,571 (1,667), coconut milk powder 1,188 (1,248), coconut cream 2,168 (2,034).  Aggregate revenue was Rs9,202.69 million, up 27% from Rs7,260.80 million.
