Destinations of Coconut Oil Export in September

Export of coconut oil in September consisted of 61,953 MT crude coconut oil, 6,066 MT cochin (refined, bleached) oil, and 14,630 MT RBD (refined, bleached and deodorized) or fully refined oil. Combined value of the coconut oil mix was USD121.268 million.
Europe remained a market leader in coconut oil external trade accounting for 40.0% of total exports or 33,025 MT of various coconut oil products, closely followed by the United States which was responsible for 35.7% or 29,479 MT.  Other major importers were Indonesia which bought 4,126 MT (5.0%), Malaysia 3,441 MT (4.2%), China 3,429 MT (4.1%), Japan 2,793 MT (3.4%), South Korea 2,305 MT (2.8%), Sri Lanka 1,901 MT (2.3%), and Singapore 1,025 MT (1.2%).  
Export to Europe was largely crude coconut oil which amounted during the month to 32,451 MT (Netherlands 23,950, Germany 7,000, Belgium 1,500).  Second biggest market was the United States at 21,200 MT, trailed by Indonesia at 4,126 MT, Malaysia 3,000 MT, Japan 600 MT, Singapore 555 MT and China 20 MT.  The United States and Japan were key markets for cochin oil with the former cornering 3,961 MT and Japan 2,079 MT.  A small volume at 25 MT was reported shipped to Canada.
Except for the United States, China, Europe, Singapore, Malaysia, and Japan, which bought other coconut oil variants, the importers of RBD coconut oil ordered only one type of coconut oil.  The United States was leading importer of RBD coconut oil with uptake at 4,318 MT, trailed by China at 3,409 MT, South Korea 2,305 MT, Sri Lanka 1,901 MT, Europe 573 MT (Netherlands 256, Germany 114, Belgium 110, Spain 49, Poland 44), Singapore 470 MT, Malaysia 441 MT, Iran 241 MT, South Africa 223 MT, Taiwan 212 MT, Argentina 177 MT, Japan 114 MT, Vietnam 105 MT, New Zealand 50 MT, Australia 49 MT, Pakistan 41 MT.
