Export of coconut shell charcoal which totaled 13,049 MT in September registered proceeds of USD8.067 million.  China was primary destination capturing nearly three-fourths of the pack (73.3%) or 9,562 MT.  Japan was far second at 2,039 MT to account for 15.6%. Other destinations were Vietnam with 857 MT (6.6%), South Korea with 321 MT (2.5%), Turkey with 221 MT (1.7%) and Jordan 49 MT (0.4%).
Activated carbon shipment in the same month at 6,876 MT generated USD13.798 million.  Germany and Japan were key markets.  The former bought nearly a third of total shipment at 2,137 MT (31.1%) and Japan held 1,303 MT (19.0%).  The United States, South Korea and Taiwan completed the top five markets with respective purchases at 847 MT (12.3%), 623 MT (9.1%) and 394 MT (5.7%). 
Six other countries with orders ranging 106-318 MT and marker shares below 5% collectively shared 18.1% namely, Sri Lanka, China, Canada, Indonesia, Netherlands, Belgium.  On the other hand, nine countries took in lower loads under 100 MT (11-97 MT range) and jointly contributed 4.7%.  This included the following: Finland, Russia, Australia, South Africa, Greece, France, United Arab Emirate, United Kingdom, Singapore.

Coconut shell charcoal export in December at 7,121 MT generated USD4.493 million. Bulk of the month’s shipment (70.8%) went to China at 5,041 MT.  Japan handled 1,268 MT (17.8%) while four other countries took in volume below 500 MT: South Korea 411 MT (5.8%), Germany 185 MT (2.6%), Turkey 169 MT (2.4%), and the United States 46 MT.

External trade of activated carbon in the same month which amounted to 6,116 MT earned USD10.475 million.  Germany was chief buyer during the month responsible for 1,165 MT (19.0%), trailed by the United States at 872 MT (14.8%), Japan 816 MT (13.3%) and China and Taiwan which rounded up the top five with respective uptakes at 513 MT (8.4%) and 465 MT (7.6%).  Nine other countries with orders ranging 107-355 MT together contributed 30.4% total trade: South Korea, Sri Lanka, Russia, Indonesia, Finland, Netherlands, South Africa, Congo, Belgium.

Meanwhile, 10 other countries with imports below 100 MT (21-96 MT range) collectively shared 6.9%: Vietnam, Australia, Canada, Sweden, Tanzania, Ghana, Turkey, Togo, Myanmar, Hong Kong.

Shipment of coconut shell charcoal in November amounted to 7,077 MT and earned USD3.676 million. China and Japan were key markets with the former buying 4,258 MT (60.2%) and Japan absorbing 2,110 MT (29.8%).  Other importers were South Korea 387 MT, Germany 185 MT, India 88 MT, and Turkey 49 MT, with respective market shares of 5.5%, 2.6%, 1.2% and 0.7%.
Deliveries of activated carbon in the same month totaled 4,713 MT and generated USD8.040 million.  Japan was market leader this month with uptake at 833 MT (17.7%), trailed by the United States at 696 MT (14.8%), Germany 675 MT (14.3%), with Sri Lanka and South Korea completing the top five importers at respective orders of 579 MT (12.3%) and 500 MT (10.6%).  Other major importers such as Indonesia with 339 MT, China 333 MT, Taiwan 282 MT, and Turkey 102 MT collectively accounted for 22.4%.
Meanwhile, 10 other outlets with delivery ranging 10-91 MT together comprised 7.9% of the market: Italy, Ghana, Sweden, Netherlands, Russia, Mali, Ivory Coast, Belgium, United Kingdom, Mexico.
