Sri Lanka Coconut Kernel Products Export Up in November 2021

Data from Sri Lanka Coconut Development Authority show the country’s coconut kernel products export continued to rise sharply and in November jumped 60% to Rs8,859.33 million (USD44.55 million) from Rs5,548.17 million (USD29.96 million).  The top five export products contributed bulk to this total with combined revenue at Rs7,816.14 million (Rs4,746.15 million in prior year) responsible for 88%.   
Desiccated coconut remained the leading export with receipts at Rs2,176.60 million skyrocketing to nearly double last year data at Rs1,114.68 million (+95%).  Coconut milk was still the second leading export at Rs1,928.91 million (+30% from Rs1,484.94 million), trailed by virgin coconut oil at Rs1,813.60 million (+65% from Rs1,096.30 million), coconut cream at Rs1,006.64 million (+96% from Rs514.63 million), and coconut milk powder at Rs890.39 million (+66% from Rs535.60 million).
Based on volume shipped out, coconut milk stood as primary export with total at 5,095 MT (4,355 MT in previous year), followed by desiccated coconut at 3,779 MT (2,173 MT), coconut cream at 2,156 MT (1,220 MT), virgin coconut oil at 1,860 MT (1,305 MT), and coconut milk powder 830 MT (580 MT).  
The cumulative January-November export of the top five products is shown following, in MT: coconut milk 48,471 (+14 from 42,408), desiccated coconut 32,938 (+20% from 27,477), coconut cream 17,944 (+31% from,13,675), virgin coconut oil 13,688 (+2% from 13,476), coconut milk powder 6,815 (+7% from 6,350). Aggregate earnings amounted to Rs67,977.30 million, a leap by 36% from Rs48,704.68 million at the same time year-earlier.
