Performance of Philippine Top Non-Tradtional Coconut Products Export in April

Data from the Philippine Statistics Authority revealed 19 non-traditional coconut products generated export revenue of more than USD100,000 in April, same number as March, thus qualified in the top non-traditional export products category.  However, the number of million-dollar earners at nine was lower than last month at 11. This included coconut water other than concentrates, virgin coconut oil, coconut milk liquid, glycerin, coconut water concentrates, fatty acid distillates, hydrogenated coconut oil, coconut milk powder, and toilet/bath soap. 
COCONUT WATER, OTHER THAN CONCENTRATES was top earner as last month, with revenue at USD11.268 million from sale of 12,461 MT.  Volume was nearly four times last year at 3,335 MT (+273.6%).  The US was primary destination accounting for 7,342 MT (+58.9% of total), with United Kingdom at 1,852 MT (14.9%) and Canada at 1,031 MT (8.3%) rounding up the top three markets.  Other destinations were Netherlands at 730 MT, Australia 471 MT, China 382 MT, and 10 others which shared the remaining 654 MT.
VIRGIN COCONUT OIL was top two with turnover of USD10.241 million from purchases of 3,132 MT, higher by 45.9% when compared with last year at 2,147 MT.  The US was market leader, cornering nearly half of the total load at 1,518 MT (48.5%), followed by Indonesia at 828 MT (26.4%).  Smaller volume went to United Kingdom at 222 MT, China, 98 MT, Australia 96 MT, Canada 95 MT, and 13 others responsible for 275 MT.
Receipts from COCONUT MILK LIQUID totaled USD4.050 million, the value of 2,484 MT shipment (2,298 MT last year), and got the third spot.  Principal market was Malaysia at 1,199 MT (48.3%), trailed by Netherlands at 393 MT (15.8%), United Kingdom 260 MT (10.5%), US 211 MT (8.5%) and 14 others which jointly held 421 MT.
GLYCERIN placed fourth with earnings of USD2.916 million after trading 2,232 MT, to record a shortfall of 30.7% from 3,223 MT.  Topmost buyer was China at 966 MT (43.3%), tracked by Japan at 634 MT (28.4%), Thailand 325 MT (14.5%), South Korea 192 MT (8.6%) and four others with combined uptake at 116 MT.
The fifth slot was taken by COCONUT WATER CONCENTRATES with proceeds amounting to USD2.405 million corresponding to 785 MT trade.  Tonnage pruned last year data at 6,846 MT by 88.5%.  The US was main importer with orders of 401 MT (51.1%).  Distance behind was Netherlands at 152 MT (19.3%), followed by Brazil at 83 MT (10.6%), Thailand 63 MT (8.0%), China at 52 MT (6.6%) and three others which took in a total of 36 MT (4.3%).
FATTY ACID DISTILLATES ranked sixth with revenue of USD2.222 million from delivery of 2,113 MT, 39.2% behind last year at 3,469 MT.  Volume went chiefly to China at 1,175 MT (55.6%).  Lower loads went to Malaysia and Pakistan at 632 MT (29.9%) and 244 MT (11.6%), respectively, and two others with combined uptake at 62 MT (3.0%).
HYDROGENATED COCONUT OIL turned in USD1.521 million and stayed in the seventh position.  Volume at 404 MT was more than twice (+125.6%) prior year at 179 MT with more than half shipped to the US at 206 MT (50.9%).  Limited orders were made by Australia at 61 MT (15.2%), Canada 43 MT (10.6%), and Germany at 38 MT (9.5%).  Five other countries together shared the remaining 56 MT.
COCONUT MILK POWDER was eighth in the list as it registered income of USD1.379 million having sold 231 MT to record a shortfall of 21.0% in volume from 293 MT a year ago.  Mexico was a major buyer at 46 MT (19.9%), along with Japan, Australia, and Spain at 28 MT apiece, and China at 26 MT.  Six others made up 22.2% of the market at 51 MT.
TOILET/BATH SOAP made it to ninth place selling USD1.011 million worth of products totaling 362 MT.  This hugely improved previous year load of 260 MT by 39.5%.  Singapore was market leader at 98 MT (26.9%), trailed by Thailand at 61 MT (16.9%), Vietnam at 59 MT (16.3%), Kuwait at 47 MT (13.0%), and Saudi Arabia completing the top five markets with 43 MT (11.7%).  Other destinations were Qatar at 27 MT, United Arab Emirates at 11 MT, the US 10 MT and seven others which took in jointly 7 MT.
COCONUT ACID OIL was ranked number 10 with contribution of USD843,442 from purchases of 820 MT (no export last year).  All shipment went exclusively to China. 
The nine other non-traditional coconut products that made it to the top export list were nata de coco, coco peat/dust, coconut oil other, coir & coir products, coconut flour, shampoo, makapuno, coco vinegar, and coconut (meat/chips, dried, grated).  
NATA DE COCO export at 441 MT (465 MT last year) was valued USD493,271.  Key markets were Japan at 168 MT (38.1%) and US 152 MT (34.3%).  Smaller loads went to Qatar at 30 MT, Canada 26 MT, Australia 23 MT and 10 others responsible for 43 MT. 
COCO PEAT/DUST export at 9,438 MT (9,369 MT) worth USD459,042 almost went exclusively to China at 9,400 MT and rest to Taiwan.   COCONUT OIL, OTHER category delivered 94 MT (446 MT) and earned USD378,506.  There were four destinations recorded namely, France 32 MT, Australia 30 MT, China 17 MT, and Japan 16 MT.  
COIR & COIR PRODUCTS sold 998 MT (2,470 MT) costing USD356,013.  China took in most of the load at 875 MT (87.7%) with the balance going to US 99 MT and Japan 25 MT. COCONUT FLOUR was 211 MT (302 MT) and turned in USD284,502. Major buyer was Germany at 96 MT (45.3%).  Other markets were US 37 MT, Australia 29 MT, United Kingdom and Mexico at 18 MT apiece and three others which held 13 MT.  
SHAMPOO totaled 47 MT (1 MT) with income of USD155,959.  Key destinations were US and Singapore at 19 MT apiece and the remaining 9 MT was shared by eight other countries.  Orders of MAKAPUNO tallied 92 MT (180 MT) worth USD154,840.  Market was mainly the United Arab Emirates at 43 MT and US at 40 MT.  Six other countries purchased 9 MT. 
COCO VINEGAR totaled 72 MT (35 MT) valued at USD121,223.  There were seven buyers namely, Canada 34 MT, US 10 MT, New Zealand 8 MT, Qatar 7 MT, United Arab Emirates and Australia at 5 MT apiece, and United Kingdom at 4 MT.  COCONUT (meat/chips, dried, grated) at 62 MT (nil) turned in USD105,015.  Importers of the product were Australia at 38 MT, US 18 MT, and Canada 5 MT.
