Destinations of Coconut Oil Export in May
Thursday, August 25, 2022Export of coconut oil in May consisted of 91,351 MT crude coconut oil, 6,600 MT cochin (refined, bleached) oil, and 15,746 MT RBD (refined, bleached, deodorized or fully refined) oil. The combined value of the export mix was USD232.846 million, rocketing 195.2% from USD78.872 million last year.
Europe remained the leading export destination responsible for more than two-thirds (68.1%) of the export mix with 77,446 MT. Far second was Malaysia at 19,657 MT (17.3%), followed by China at 12,523 MT (11.0%) which was solely RBD oil, Japan at 2,287 MT (2.0%), and the US at 1,096 MT which likewise was solely RBD oil.
Export to Europe was almost exclusively crude coconut oil at 73,301 MT (Netherlands 48,801, Italy 19,500, Spain 4,500, Greece 500). Other importers of crude coconut oil were Malaysia at 17,000 MT, and Japan 1,050 MT. Europe also was top buyer of cochin oil at 3,000 MT (Netherlands), closely trailed by Malaysia at 2,500 MT and Japan at 1,100 MT.
RBD coconut oil market was led by China at 12,523 MT. Europe was far second at 1,145 MT (Netherlands 916, Poland 67, Belgium 65, Germany 58, Bulgaria and France at 19 apiece), followed by the US which rounded up the top three at 1,096 MT. Other importers were South Africa 203 MT, Pakistan 202 MT, Malaysia 157 MT, Japan 137 MT, Taiwan 70 MT, Singapore 53 MT, Argentina 48 MT, Canada 38 MT, Bahrain 22 MT, Indonesia 21 MT, Vietnam 19 MT, Hong Kong 9 MT, and Israel 3 MT.
