Destinations of Coconut Oil Export in December 2023

Export of coconut oil in December consisted of 74,617 MT crude coconut oil, 17,689 MT cochin (refined, bleached) oil, and 6,668 MT RBD (refined, bleached, and deodorized, or fully refined) oil.  The combined turnover of the export mix was USD98.282 million. 

Europe was the leading destination responsible for more than one-half (54.5%) of total lifting or 53,952 MT, followed by the USA at 23.7% or 23,478 MT, Malaysia at 8.8% or 8,696 MT, Indonesia at 5.1% or 5,048 MT, Japan at 4.1% or 4,023 MT, China at 2.9% or 2,900 MT.  

Europe was primary destination for crude coconut oil receiving 52,395 MT (31,895 Netherlands, 14,000 Italy, 5,000 Spain, 1,500 Turkey).  The USA held 9,000 MT, trailed by Malaysia at 8,001 MT, Indonesia at 5,005 MT, and Sri Lanka at 216 MT.  On the other hand, bulk of the month’s shipment of cochin oil went to the USA at 13,657 MT, with Japan following at 3,853 MT. The rest went to Europe at 163 MT (Netherlands), and Brazil 17 MT.

The biggest importer of RBD coconut oil was China, cornering 2,900 MT.  Europe took in 1,394 MT (Greece 524, Belgium 336, Turkey 219, Hungary 117, Slovenia 82, Poland 42, Netherlands 40, Germany 19, France 12, Spain 2).  The USA held 822 MT, trailed by Malaysia at 695 MT, Japan 170 MT, Taiwan 127 MT, Sri Lanka 101 MT, Pakistan 82 MT, Bangladesh 68 MT, Argentina 68 MT, Canada 68 MT, Indonesia 43 MT, Brazil 42 MT, Vietnam 37 MT, South Africa 19 MT, Qatar 18 MT, Thailand 10 MT, Colombia 4 MT.
