Virgin Coconut Oil is Top Non-Traditional Coconut Product Export in 2023

Virgin coconut oil (VCO) was the leading non-traditional coconut product export for the year 2023 in terms of generated revenue, dislodging last year’s top export coconut water.  VCO was in the top two last year.  Following behind were hydrogenated coconut oil, coconut water concentrates, glycerin, coconut oil other, toilet/bath soap, fatty acid distillates, coconut milk powder, and coconut milk liquid.

VCO turned in USD76.758 million from sale of 29,337 MT. The prior year earnings totaled USD95.936 million and volume was 26,296 MT.  The USA led 44 other countries with uptake at 17,829 MT.  Trailing behind were Germany at 2,299 MT, China at 1,945 MT, United Kingdom at 1,193 MT, and Canada at 1,128 MT.  

The next five major markets were Netherlands at 819 MT, Australia 703 MT, New Zealand 647 MT, Mexico 527 MT, and Colombia 224 MT. Smaller loads ranging 110-218 MT were shipped to France, Spain, Taiwan, Japan, Slovenia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Argentina.
