Performance of Philippine Top Non-Traditional Coconut Products Exports in July (Part 2)

The following shows details of the next seven leading non-traditional coconut products exports in July (ranked 11th-17th) namely Virgin Coconut Oil, Coconut Acid Oil, Nata de Coco, Coconut Meat Chips. Young Coconut (dried meat in strips, sliced or shredded), Makapuno, Coco Peat/Dust. 
VIRGIN COCONUT OIL turned in USD1.138 million in foreign exchange.  Traded volume, however, at 398 MT pruned last year’s data at 2,365 MT by 83.2%.  The USA was market leader with uptake at 104 MT (26.0%), trailed by Slovenia at 81 MT (20.5%), China at 66 MT (16.6%), Brazil at 58 MT (14.5%), Indonesia at 39 MT (9.7%), United Kingdom at 16  MT (4.1 %), Singapore at 10 MT (2.5%) , Czech Republic 10 MT (2.4%), Taiwan 6 MT (1.4%), Northern Mariana Island 5 MT (1.2%) and Malaysia 4 MT (1.0%).
COCONUT ACID OIL earned USD862,382 from overseas purchases of 1,034 MT, short by 10.5% from 1,155 MT last year.  There were only three destinations reported during the month which was led by China at 509 MT (49.2%), followed by India at 289 MT (28.0%), and the USA at 236 MT (22.8%).
NATA DE COCO generated USD508,053 from orders amounting to 470 MT, more than twice last year at 212 MT (+121.7%).  Japan fortified its top position in the trade with uptake at 192 MT (40.8%).  The USA was second major buyer during the month at 113 MT (24.1%), followed by Canada at 46 MT (9.8%), United Arab Emirates at 39 MT (8.3%), China at 26 MT (5.4%), Qatar at 17 MT (3.7%), United Kingdom at 14 MT (3.0%).  The balance was shared by six other countries with imports ranging 0.7-6 MT.  This consisted of New Zealand, Netherlands, Australia, Hong Kong, Spain, Papua New Guinea. 
COCONUT MEAT CHIPS registered turnover of USD385,108.  Total volume sold at 144 MT leaped 73.4% from year-ago at 83 MT.  Bulk of the month’s shipment went to the USA at 105 MT (72.8%).  Other destinations were South Korea at 26 MT (17.8%), Vietnam at 13 MT (8.9%), and Japan 1 MT.  
YOUNG COCONUT (dried meat in strips, sliced or shredded) reported income of USD382,232 from delivery of 101 MT to record a shortfall of 29.0% from last year at 143 MT.  The USA was principal market accounting for two-thirds (66.6%) or 68 MT.  Smaller loads went to Russia at 14 MT (13.9%), Japan 11 MT (10.4%), Canada 4 MT (3.9%), Australia 2 MT (2.3%), United Arab Emirates 2 MT (1.6%), Netherlands 1 MT (1.1%).
MAKAPUNO export at 122 MT was valued USD223,707.  Traded volume this month magnified last year’s 16 MT nearly eight-folds (+679.4%).  North America was key market with the USA responsible for 36.9% or 45 MT and Canada 31.4% or 38 MT.  Other markets were United Arab Emirates at 16 MT (12.9%), Kuwait 12 MT (9.5%).  Six others took in much lower loads in the range 0.23-4 MT and collectively comprised 9.3% of the market.  This included United Kingdom, Netherlands, Spain, Japan, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand. 
International trade of COCO PEAT/DUST of 3,333 MT (+5.6% from last year) contributed USD217,730 to the non-traditional coconut products export earnings.  China remained an almost exclusive market cornering 99.3% or 3,308 MT while South Korea handled the remaining 25 MT.
