Thursday, December 5, 2024
After 41 years of operation, the Minsawi Industries Kuala Kangsar Sdn Bhd has been transformed into a smart facility utilizing artificial intelligence (AI). The facility, in partnership with technology provider Artificial Intelligence Robotics Engineering Industries (AIREI), was launched last month by Plantation and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, according to a report in The Star.
The mill had invested between RM4 million and RM5 million for the technology, Johari added. The factory uses AI incorporated in its sensors, technology advancement and in some of the predictive tools to process palm oil. He was also informed that this palm oil mill could reduce its workforce, especially foreign labor between 30% and 35%, as well as energy, water and utilities.
Johari said there were 446 palm oil mills in the country and if all adopted this technology, foreign workers could be reduced by almost 8,000. And the workers could then return to their respective countries after gaining experience.
