Performance of Philippine Top Non-Traditional Coconut Products Exports in October 2024 (Part 2)

The following shows details of the next eight non-traditional coconut products exports in October (ranked 11th-18th) namely Coconut Milk Powder, Coconut Acid Oil, Nata de Coco, Makapuno, Coco Peat/Dust, Coco Flour, Coir Products, Young Coconut (meat/chips, dried, sliced).


COCONUT MILK POWDER generated USD536,254 in October from orders of 107 MT.  Volume dropped 47.2% from 202 MT at the same time year-earlier. The Netherlands was leading importer capturing 50 MT (46.7%), joined by France at 27 MT (25.5%), and the USA at 20 MT (18.7%) as top three outlets.  Limited volume went to three other countries: Japan at 6 MT, South Korea at 4 MT, and Hong Kong at 0.14 MT.


Shipment of COCONUT ACID OIL amounting to 405 MT was valued at USD315,646.  The total load declined sharply by 52.3% from 847 MT in the previous year.  China took in bulk of the shipment at 365 MT (90.1%) and the balance 40 MT (9.9%) went to India. 


NATA DE COCO earned USD288,987 from deliveries of 266 MT, a slight fall by 7.0% from 286 MT of the previous year.  The USA was top buyer during the month, dislodging consistent leader Japan, with uptake of 83 MT (31.1%).  Following behind were Canada at 77 MT (29.1%), Japan at 68 MT (25.7%) and six other countries with limited orders namely Australia at 15 MT, United Arab Emirates at 11 MT, Netherlands at 5 MT, New Zealand at 3 MT, and Israel and Hong Kong at 2 MT apiece.  Together, the latter group represented 14.1% of the market.


MAKAPUNO export at 137 MT registered proceeds of USD265,208.  Traded volume leaped 86.2% from prior year at 74 MT.  The product was mainly shipped to North America, its key destinations, with Canada cornering 58 MT or 42.6% and the USA 47 MT or 34.5%. Ten other countries ordered smaller volume and collectively shared 22.9% as follows: Italy 8 MT, Israel 7 MT, United Arab Emirates 6 MT, Australia 4 MT, United Kingdom 2 MT, Bahrain 2 MT, France 1 MT and Malta, Japan, Lebanon with uptakes under 1 MT.


International trade of COCO PEAT/DUST of 3,577 MT contracted steeply by 35.0% from last year at 5,502 MT but turned in USD159,806. China was almost an exclusive destination capturing 99.1% or 3,544 MT with the remainder at 33 MT bound for Taiwan. 


COCO FLOUR reported income of USD225,631, with total volume sold at 189 MT rocketing 183.6% from the previous year at 67 MT.  The USA was market leader responsible for 97 MT (51.5%) with South Korea taking the second slot at 46 MT (24.3%), followed by Poland at 25 MT (13.4%), Germany at 18 MT (9.4%) and Malaysia at 3 MT (1.3%).


COIR PRODUCTS had turnover of USD145,573 from shipment of 1,178 MT, dropping by 24.9% from year-ago at 1,569 MT.  China virtually took in almost all the load at 1,145 MT (97.2%).  Limited quantities went to the USA at 17 MT and Japan at 16 MT. 


YOUNG COCONUT (dried meat in strips, sliced or shredded) logged income of USD126,380 from overseas purchases of 31 MT.  The volume trimmed last year’s 198 MT by 84.4%.  Key markets were the USA at 9 MT (29.6%), Canada, China and Japan at 7 MT apiece, and the balance to Hong Kong and United Arab Emirates.
