Sri Lanka to Distribute 400,000 Coconut Plants to Boost Production

Sri Lanka will distribute 400,000 coconut saplings to 200,000 families to boost family-based coconut production, according to Sunimal Jayakody, chairman of the Coconut Cultivation Board, reported in the Economynext on March 10.  

Jayakody said the plan is to offer 2 coconut saplings for each family for free, adding the initiative was put in place to boost coconut production.  Families can make the request under the project.
