Philippine Export of Coconut Products Up in February

Data from the Philippine Statistics Authority show exports of coconut products by the Philippines in February totaled 224,730 MT in copra terms.  This is 15.1% higher than same month last year data at 195,319 MT. Gross export receipts, however, leaped sharply at USD322.225 million, nearly twice the previous year at USD168.369 million (+91.4%), mainly due to the steep increase in coconut oil turnover.
Coconut oil was the only gainer among the major exports during the month with volume at 127,630 MT escalating 25.7% year-on-year from 101,569 MT.  Export of by-product copra meal fell 16.7% to 23,527 MT from 28,243 MT, desiccated coconut came down by 21.3% to 12,855 MT from 16,330 MT, and oleochemicals plunged 74.4% to 2,267 MT as copra from 8,850 MT.  
Other products’ export performances were as follows, in MT: coco shell charcoal 7,946 (+1,994.5% from 379 last year), activated carbon 4,403 (+13.2% from 3,888), virgin coconut oil nil (757), coco water 11,979 (+1,439.8% from 778), fresh coconuts 1 (-43.8% from 2), Others 18,926 (+19.4% from 15,851).    
The cumulative figure for January-February 2025 exports reached 461,137 MT in copra terms, exceeding by 10.5% same time last year total at 417,332 MT. Breakdown is as follows, MT: coconut oil 263,392 (228,382 last year), copra meal 54,065 (48,506), desiccated coconut 24,541 (27,276), oleochemicals as copra 5,113 (12,651); Coco shell charcoal 19,110 (11,137), activated carbon 9,113 (7,894), virgin coconut oil 4 (1,054), coco water 24,850 (1,314), Others 34,701 (28,842).
