PSA: Philippine Export of Coconut Products Up in January

Official figures from the Philippine Statistics Authority revealed the Philippine export of coconut products in January rose 6.5% year-on-year to 236,407 MT in copra terms from 222,013 MT.  Gross export receipts, however, jumped 79.9% to USD317.446 million from USD176.481 million largely driven by the steep rise in coconut oil turnover.
Except for oleochemicals, the major exports exceeded prior year data. Export of coconut oil hiked 7.1% to 135,762 MT from 126,812 MT while by-product copra meal shipment rocketed 50.7% to 30,538 MT from 20,264 MT.  Desiccated coconut at 11,685 MT advanced 6.8% from 10,946 MT but oleochemicals at 2,846 MT as copra fell 25.1% from 3,801 MT. 
Other products performed as follows, in MT: coco shell charcoal 11,164 (+3.8% from 10,757 last year), activated carbon 4,710 (+17.6% from 4,006), virgin coconut oil 4 (-98.7% from 296), coco water 12,871 (+2301% from 536), fresh coconuts 2 (+73.4% from 1), Others 15,774 (+21.4% from 12,991).
