Outbound shipment of coconut shell charcoal of 8,873 MT generated USD6.398 million in foreign exchange in receipts in January. Turnover slipped 5.2% from USD6.748 million a year ago. China was almost an exclusive destination cornering 91.5% or 8,121 MT. Other importers were Japan at 599 MT (6.8%), and three other countries which bought limited tonnage including South Korea (73 MT), Thailand (67 MT), and Israel (13 MT).
On the other hand, export of activated carbon in the same month at 5,468 MT was worth USD14.834 million. Revenue rocketed 76.7% from last year at USD8.396 million. Japan was leading destination responsible for 1,178 MT (21.5%), followed by China at 897 MT (16.4%), Indonesia at 539 MT (9.9%), South Korea at 516 MT (9.4%), USA 456 MT (8.3%), Germany 444 MT (8.1%), Taiwan 402 MT (7.4%), and Sri Lanka at 300 MT (5.5%).
Smaller deliveries of 100-172 MT were made to Peru, Canada, Turkey, France collectively accounting for 9.3%. On the other hand, volume under 100 MT (5-95 MT range) were channeled to six other countries namely Italy, Tanzania, Sweden, United Kingdom, Brazil, Singapore for total market share of 14.1%.

Thursday, April 16, 2026Overseas purchases of coconut shell charcoal at 12,076 MT logged income of USD9.035 million in December, a sharp rise by 54.2% from USD5.858 million last year. China was almost an exclusive market controlling 93.4% or 11,281 MT. Other destinations were Japan at 695 MT (5.8%), Iraq at 51 MT and South Korea at 49 MT.
In the same month, activated carbon booked sales of 5,126 MT valued at USD14.450 million, nearly twice last year at USD7.929 million (+82.2%). This went to 20 various countries abroad led by Japan with uptake at 1,023 MT (20.0%), followed by China at 725 MT (14.1%), Indonesia at 626 MT (12.2%). Following the top three outlets were USA at 473 MT (9.2%), South Korea at 441 MT (8.6%), Taiwan at 422 MT (8.2%).
Smaller orders ranging 113-288 MT were made by Peru, Germany, Italy, Ghana, Turkey, Canada and comprised 22.6% of total delivery during the month. On the other hand, limited loads in the 8-74 MT range went to eight countries with combined market share of 5.1%. This comprised of Sri Lanka, Ivory Coast, Australia, Thailand, Congo, Senegal, Mozambique, Colombia.
